Specifying fire-rated veneer and melamine panels just got easier

General News

We've now made it easier to specify the right wall and ceiling panels to meet Building Code requirements for fire performance.

Our Technical Support Manager, Mark Demus, has overseen a comprehensive research and testing programme for our veneer and melamine panels along with our substrates.  The result is comprehensive guide that answers all the key questions such as:

  • What's defined as a surface finish?
  • What are Group numbers and what do you use where?
  • How are products tested to get a Group number?
  • How do our own products stack up?

Download the Guide or view our product fire ratings at a glance.

The good news is that our veneer panels pressed on MDF FR Black or MDF FR MR (green) both get a Group 1-s rating and these panels do not require an intumescent coating.  The veneer panels were coated with a generic two-pack polyurethane, which is a typical finish on veneer panels.  Melamine panels received a Group 1-s on the MDF FR Black and a Group 2-s on the MDF FR MR.
